An hour drive from Dubai, Ras al Khaimah is the perfect place to escape the busy city and experience tranquillity in the middle of the desert. Once inside you won’t want to leave; go for the views, food and the award-winning spa.
The resort offers signature attentive service, nine stylish restaurants and lounges, and elegant accommodation with magnificent views of the Arabian shoreline and the Hajar Mountains.
Style and character
The resort showcases the heritage and architecture of the Waldorf Astoria hotels, while also offering a sense of desert adventure, with matchless hospitality in unparalleled comfort. The atmosphere is genuinely welcoming at this Arabian palace resort where the iconic Waldorf Astoria 7-metre clock stands sentry in the reception area. The hotel also has a wide variety of Arabic influences such as the maze-like Arabic script paintings framed on the hallway walls and majlis-like sitting areas in Peacock Alley.
Food and drink
One of the most delightful experiences on this trip was the incredibly delicious food. Breakfast was served daily at the Qasr al Bahar restaurant on the ground floor in an open buffet style.
We enjoyed our meal at Lexington grill which has a US steakhouse themed menu. A bite of the chef’s air-dried beef cuts will have your mouth watering. The formal dinner attire made it an even more special occasion. The restaurant houses over 350 labels of wine in its temperature controlled cellar.
Service + facilities and Experiences
The resort is a private hideaway offering exceptional activities and experiences designed to create a unique and memorable stay. For Golf enthusiasts, an 18-hole championship golf course lies next door to the resort along with many other water sports such as scuba diving, sailing and also desert safaris.
Relax on a 600-metre, sandy white beach with a refreshing cocktail while admiring the blue Arabian Sea. The resort also has two temperature controlled pools including an adults only pool.
Rooms and suites
There are 347 spacious rooms and suites to choose from and are all lavishly decorated with authentic and handcrafted Arabian furnishings.
The suite I spent the night in was sumptuous and luxurious with an incredibly comfortable kingsize bed, a marble bathroom and even my own walk-in wardrobe. The small details elevated this experience to another level: the bathrobes, the Salvatore Ferragamo bath products and the exquisite china. The suite opened up through panoramic sliding doors onto our own private peaceful terrace overlooking the Arabian shoreline.
